Technology Lockdown Statement
"Technology lockdown" is the general term for the current state of hindered basic physics research. This page explains the mechanisms of the lockdown, its scope of impact, and the adjustments to the scientific research layout being undertaken by the Council.
Current State
Since before Year 1 of the Crisis Era, global high-energy particle collision experiments have consistently produced anomalous results that are irreproducible and unattributable. Frontier research in basic physics — including particle physics, high-energy astrophysics, and unified theories — has effectively stagnated. This is not an issue of equipment, funding, or talent: regardless of the equipment used or the team conducting the experiments, the results remain equally chaotic.
Causes
The Scientific and Technological Advisory Committee has confirmed that the anomalous collision results were caused by Sophon interference (see "Sophon: Public Statement"). Sophons continuously occupy the final readings of collider experiments, preventing humanity from verifying new fundamental theories through experimentation. What is locked is "verification," not "thinking"—yet without experimental verification, modern physics loses its path forward.
Scope of Impact
- Affected: Frontier basic physics relying on high-energy collision experiments; technological pathways built upon new physics (including certain deep-space propulsion theories).
- Unaffected: All applied sciences and engineering disciplines. The existing theoretical frameworks of materials science, propulsion engineering, nuclear fusion engineering, spacecraft construction, and information technology remain valid and continue to progress.
Council's Response
- Shift in Research Focus Towards Engineering: Guiding research forces to transition from the forefront of fundamental physics to applied engineering, "answering questions that engineering cannot answer with engineering".
- Collider Network Maintenance: Maintaining the operation and cross-verification protocols of the global collider network (currently Version 2), with experiments to resume once interference subsides (the 3rd round of "Collider Anomaly Response" has passed acceptance).
- Joint Funding: Providing funding through the direction catalog published in the "Aerospace and Nuclear Defense Research" column.
