Director of the Committee, Cole, answers questions from the press on the "Wallfacer Fever"
10 January, Year 4 of the Crisis Era · Public Information Division of the Wallfacer Project Committee · Document NumberPDC/WF/PRESS/4-001
As the Wallfacer Project completed its tenth full month, Committee Director Adrian Cole held the year's first press conference at the New York headquarters. Below are excerpts from the transcripts of questions and answers.
Q: Director, the public wants to know what the Wallfacers have actually done this year.
Cole: I will divide this question into two parts. What they have done—every page of the ledger and every hearing record on this site states that there are 156 public project milestones, open for verification. What they are doing—I cannot answer these two words, and no institution in the world can answer them. This is not dereliction of duty, ladies and gentlemen. This is the first time in human history that we have removed the word "secrecy" from the dictionary and left only "trust."
Q: Some commentators have said that over fifty billion dollars bought only the silence of four gentlemen.
Col: The commentator has it backwards. The four gentlemen did not buy anyone's silence—our system chose to pay trust for their silence. The ledger and the accounts are there for all to see; I invite every taxpayer to do the math themselves.
Q: What can the general public do for the Wallfacer Project?
Col: Three things. Do not speculate on their intentions, do not spread "truths" without document numbers, and live your lives as usual. Your normal life is what the four gentlemen are guarding—this is a concept even the Trisolaran world can understand. I hope we do not lose sight of it ourselves.
The full transcript of the press conference will be compiled and archived by the Public Information Division.
