LOGIC · Sophon Blind Spot · Why Actions Are Public but Intentions Are Not

Many members of the public have a primary question: If this is a top-secret strategy, why are the Wallfacer's actions made public instead? This page addresses this question.

I. Sophons Can See Everything Except the Brain

The Sophons deployed by the Trisolaran civilization can monitor all human communications and surveil all activities—meeting minutes, encrypted telegrams, and intranet files are completely transparent to the Trisolaran world (see the main site "Sophon: Public Statement"). The only aspect of humanity confirmed to be unreadable by Sophons is human thought processes.

Therefore, the core of the Wallfacer Project is encapsulated in one sentence: To preserve the true strategy intact within a single person's brain.

II. Since Actions Cannot Be Concealed, Do Not Conceal Them

Who the Wallfacer meets, what equipment is purchased, and what facilities are built—these actions are clearly visible to the Sophons, and any attempt at "action secrecy" is self-deception. Thus, the choice made by the Act is: All actions are made public, and this website will publish them as usual, without redactions or omissions.

The true impossibility of public disclosure lies in intent—when purchasing the same batch of equipment, whether it is for defense or for other purposes is known only to the Wallfacer himself. This intent is not registered in any archive: it does not exist in the Committee's systems, does not exist in any meeting minutes, and naturally does not exist on any page of this website. This website has no "redacted content," only "content that was never written."

III. Why Speculating on Intent is Dangerous

The Committee has repeatedly called on the public not to speculate on the intentions of the Wallfacers, for three reasons:

  • Speculation is almost certainly wrong—if intent could be deduced from actions, the ETO's "Wallbreakers" would not need to exist;
  • Massive amounts of human speculation would enter the analytical purview of the Trisolaran world via Sophons, effectively performing intelligence filtering for the adversary;
  • The spread of misinformation would harm the Wallfacers themselves and their families (the multiple assassination attempts on Wallfacer Luo Ji serve as a cautionary precedent).

IV. The Name "Wallfacer"

The plan is named "Wallfacer," drawing on the Zen Buddhist imagery of Bodhidharma facing the wall: like monks facing the wall, Wallfacers keep their thoughts to themselves. Ten years of facing the wall to break through the wall—the time humanity has allotted to these four is four hundred years.
